Rooted in Scotland
"I feel very fortunate to live in a place of unrivaled beauty, steeped in history with such a rich cultural tapestry. I've always felt truly at home in nature. Growing up surrounded by the dramatic Scottish landscapes with an acute sensitivity to the changing seasons has helped shaped who I am as a person and an artist. I aspire for my work to embody that beauty that inspires so deeply and to share my passion for plants, yarns and interiors with all whom will hold it as their own."
Roseanna Preston-Jones, Founder

Our Values
Heritage
Loom weaving is truly an ancient craft and one in serious jeopardy of falling victim to modern times. The tradition of spinning yarn and weaving by hands a skill which takes patience and skill to master. Preston Jones Design is dedicated to keeping the heritage and time-honored methods of loom weaving alive for generations to come. True to noble artisan techniques, Roseanna takes great pride in this process of creation.
Workmanship
The entire weaving process at the studio is conducted by hand. This includes the making or sourcing of hand spun/dyed yarns, the designing and the weaving itself. Careful planning and execution of the designs ensure the quality of the woven materials and the artistic beauty is fulfilled.
Aesthetics
The finished woven piece is more than meets the eye. Every yarn, colour and pattern are intertwined, conveying inspiration and meaning, often nature based or in the case of bespoke work an interpretation of a person of specific place. Texture is at the heart of the work, the tactile nature of yarns jumping off the canvas. Colour play and use of colour is a very important theme in Roseanna's work. Natural dyes are beautiful in their bountiful shades and often surprising hues.
Emotion
Each woven piece made in the studio is created with great care, passion and love. The bespoke process is testament to this emotional connection that an artwork can carry. A woven piece becoming more than a decorative object but a cherished heirloom, passed down through generations. Art can be a tremendously powerful vehicle for emotion, in all its calmness, joy and fury. Every piece tells a story...
Sustainability
One of the many benefits of weaving on a traditional loom is it does not rely on any electricity to operate it this has an obvious positive environmental impact. Natural plant dyes or undyed yarns are preferred, and made ethically from natural materials sourced within the UK. Yarn cuts are minimized and avoided if possible during the weaving process. All of our packaging used to transport artwork is recycled.
We donate regularly throughout the year to nature based charities within the UK, in particular, The Scottish Wildlife Trust.
